What are you?

I have a couple of topics that I think I can tie together. My first questions is, Are you an Eagle or a Duck? Ducks quack and complain all day. Eagles soar above the crowd. When you wake up in the morning, do you automatically assume that you are going to have a bad day? "Ohhhh, it's monday, this is not going to be good." If you believe you will not have a good day, then you are going to notice every little thing that will confirm that original thought. But if you CHOOSE to have a good day, then the little things that would have irritated you will be less noticeable. Your circumstances won't necessarily change, but your attitude can. You are in control of you attitude. So, again I ask, Are you going to be a duck, quacking and complaining all day, or are you going to Choose to change your attitude and outlook and be an Eagle that soars above the crowd? Change is my second thought for the day. I teach a high school sunday school class and Change was our topic yesterday. We've been studying Joseph. How he went from a favored son, hated by brothers, to sold into slavery. Everything changed for Joseph. He could have given up right then to self pity and been a duck the rest of his life quacking and complaining about how everything went wrong. But Joseph was a man of God. He trusted that God would bring him out of all this trouble. I'm sure he had his moments, he was human after all. Who wouldn't be a tad bit angry, sad & scared? But he chose to be an eagle, and soar above the crowd. He made his way into Potiphar's house, but ended up in prison. Again I'm sure all those feelings came up again. But, he kept his faith and attitude right and God used him again to interpret the dreams of the king. Now he was where God had told him he would be in those dreams so long ago. Do you think Joseph would have been as usable if he had given in to being a duck? Quacking and complaining about everything? Who would have listened to him? Joseph had several major life changes and even though he may not have understood the "why" of them, he soared like an Eagle above the crowd and God used Him in a mighty way. Are you open to change? Are you a duck, but would like to be an eagle? Try it for a day or two. What have you got to lose? Others will notice the difference.
