Happy July 4th

Yes, I know it's still June, but I, along with others, are planning July 4th picnics, parties and BBQ's. Deciding where to go to watch fireworks, and so on. But I want to pause all the planning for a moment to remember the people that keep us Free to plan these parties. Yes, I'm talking about our Armed Forces. These men and women who willingly serve their country. They serve for a lot of reasons, but the biggest is to keep our country safe. They don't get high $$ paychecks. They do get benefits, but not equal to their tasks. Most put their lives on the line, daily. At any moment they can be called away from their families and friends. So, no matter how you feel about the war, our soldiers deserve our respect, as they are defending our rights and our freedoms. As you go about your holiday planning, say a prayer for our soldiers. Remember, freedom isn't free. Someone has paid a price. I hope you all have a safe and happy JULY 4th!!!

Fireproof - The Movie

Another movie from Sherwood Baptist Church that produced Flywheel and Facing the Giants. This one features Kirk Cameron. It's due to release to theaters in September. Check out the trailer. It looks good!

Dinner

As you know, I have 3 sons. One thing I wanted them to learn, was how to cook. That way when they were on their own, if they ate nothing but mac-n-cheese, or ramen noodles, it would be because of choice not necessity. So, last Monday, my youngest son Joseph decided to make dinner. He looked online for some recipes and here's what he came up with.

Balsamic Chicken
Stir-Fry Vegetables
Rice

Balsamic Chicken
1 pkg Chicken Tenderloin (tenders - raw, unbreaded)
garlic salt
1 tbls Olive Oil
4 tbls balsamic vinegar

Heat Olive oil in skillet, add chicken to the pan, sprinkle with garlic salt(lightly)
sear on both sides about 2 minutes each side. Remove chicken from pan, add 2 tbls balsamic vinegar. Return chicken to pan and flip it over to coat chicken on both sides. Vinegar will evaporate quickly, so as needed add the other tbls of vinegar. Cook chicken on each side for five minutes, or until completely cooked. Serve Hot!
Then, while Joseph was working on the chicken, I stir-fried some veggies and made some rice. We served the dinner with 3 chicken strips, a pile of rice with the veggies on top of rice. It was wonderful! Good Job Joseph!!!!

A View From MY Window

Here are some pictures of some birds and squirrels that like to visit my front yard. Probably because I give them food to eat. I enjoy watching the birds fly in and out, and the squirrels running up and down the tree, around the yard and so on... Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Transparency

To be transparent. This is a picture of a Glasswing Butterfly. It comes from Central America and is found from Mexico to Panama. It is not an easy butterfly to spot because of its wings being clear. A natural camouflage.

Imagine if you would, being completely transparent. Not for the sake of camouflage, but for honesty and truth. Would we want our true heart to shine through? What would we see if we did let out our true heart? Would we show Jesus? Or would it be selfish motives, jealousy, and discontent?

Rivaling the refined beauty of a stained glass window, the translucent wings of the Glasswing butterfly shimmer in the sunlight like polished panes of glass. Are we a refined beauty, that shines Jesus Christ, through our actions? Through the way we live our lives? Are we transparent?

To live a life of transparency, means to open yourself up to scrutiny. People will notice and criticize. They will judge your motives and wait for you to stumble and fall. However, that is what Christ has called us to do. To live a life that reflects God. To see through me to Christ who lives within me. Not an easy task to undertake, but one that we are not alone in doing. We have Christ who gives us strength the fellowship of other believers to keep us motivated and to hold us accountable. Let us all strive to live a life of Transparency.
